Creating Agents

Learn how to create new agents in Cuneiform Chat.

Create a New Agent

  1. Navigate to Agents in the sidebar
  2. Click Create Agent
  3. Fill in the required fields

Required Fields

Agent Name

Choose a descriptive name that helps you identify this agent. Examples:

  • "Customer Support Bot"
  • "Product FAQ Assistant"
  • "HR Policy Helper"

The name is for your reference and appears in the dashboard.

System Prompt

The system prompt defines your agent's behavior. See System Prompts for detailed guidance.

Quick example:

You are a helpful assistant for [Your Company].
Answer questions based on the provided documentation.
Be concise and friendly.

Optional Settings

Description

Add a description for your own reference. This helps when managing multiple agents.

Greeting Message

The first message your agent sends when a conversation starts. Examples:

  • "Hi! How can I help you today?"
  • "Welcome to [Company] support. What would you like to know?"

Response Settings

Configure response behavior:

  • Temperature — Controls randomness (lower = more focused)
  • Max tokens — Maximum response length

Save and Test

After creating your agent:

  1. Click Create to save
  2. Go to Playground to test
  3. Refine settings based on results

Create your first agent with minimal configuration, test it, then add complexity as needed.

Managing Agents

From the Agents page, you can:

  • Edit — Modify any agent's settings
  • Playground — Test your agent in an interactive chat
  • Archive — Hide agents you no longer need (can be restored later)
