Add Documents

Your chatbot's knowledge comes from the documents you provide. This guide shows you how to upload documents to your knowledge base.

Accessing the Knowledge Base

  1. Sign in to your Cuneiform Chat dashboard
  2. Navigate to Knowledge Base in the sidebar
  3. Click Upload Documents or drag and drop files

Supported File Types

Cuneiform Chat supports a wide range of document formats:

Upload Methods

Direct Upload

  1. Click Upload Documents
  2. Select files from your computer
  3. Wait for processing to complete

Drag and Drop

Simply drag files from your computer and drop them into the Knowledge Base area.

Cloud Storage

Connect your cloud storage for seamless imports:

  • Google Drive — Import directly from your Drive
  • Dropbox — Connect your Dropbox account
  • OneDrive — Import from Microsoft OneDrive

Document Processing

After upload, your documents go through several processing stages:

  1. Extraction — Text is extracted from the document
  2. Chunking — Content is split into searchable segments
  3. Embedding — AI creates vector representations for semantic search
  4. Indexing — Content becomes searchable by your agents

Processing time depends on document size and complexity. Most documents complete within a few minutes.

Best Practices

  • Quality over quantity — Well-structured documents produce better responses
  • Keep content current — Remove outdated documents to avoid confusion
  • Organize with folders — Use the folder structure to keep documents organized
  • Check for duplicates — Avoid uploading the same content multiple times
