Uploading Documents
Upload documents to your content so your AI agents can use them to answer questions. Documents are automatically processed and made searchable.
Getting There
- Log in to the Admin Panel
- Navigate to Content in the sidebar menu
- The upload area is displayed at the top of the page
Upload Methods
Local File Upload
- Drag and drop files directly onto the upload area, OR
- Click the upload area to open a file browser
- Select one or more files to upload
- Files begin uploading automatically with progress tracking
Cloud Storage Import
Import files directly from your cloud storage providers:

After selecting files from any provider, they are automatically imported to your content.
Upload Options
Adding Tags
Optionally assign tags to documents during upload:
- Click + Add Tags before uploading
- Select tags from the dropdown
- Selected tags will be applied to all uploaded documents
Supported File Types
The file types you can upload depend on your plan. Common formats include:
- Documents: PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, RTF
- Presentations: PPTX, PPT
- Web/Data: HTML, HTM, JSON, XML
File size limits also vary by plan (shown in the upload area).

During Upload
Progress Tracking
- Each file shows upload progress with a percentage bar
- Upload speed and estimated time remaining are displayed
- Files are processed one at a time
Cancel Options
- Cancel individual file: Click the X next to a file
- Cancel all: Click “Cancel All Pending” to stop the entire batch
- A warning appears if you try to leave the page during upload
Processing Status
Track document status in Content:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Uploaded | Document has been uploaded to the system |
| Validating | Document is being validated |
| Stored | Document has been stored and is awaiting processing |
| Processing | Document is being analyzed and indexed |
| Ready | Document is processed and available for your agents |
| Failed | Processing encountered an error (can be retried) |
Processing time depends on document size and complexity. Most documents complete within a few minutes.
After Upload
Success
- Successfully uploaded files appear in your document browser
- Documents are automatically processed for search
- You can organize them into folders or add tags
Handling Duplicates
- The system detects duplicate content automatically
- If a file with identical content already exists, you’ll see a warning
- The existing file location is shown in the error message
Handling Errors
- If a file fails to upload, an error message explains why
- Common issues include file too large or unsupported format
- You can retry individual files or upload them again
Tips
- Upload multiple files at once to save time
- Apply tags during upload to keep documents organized
- Check the supported file types shown in the upload area
Common Questions
Q: How many files can I upload at once? A: You can select multiple files for batch upload. They process one at a time with progress tracking.
Q: Why was my file rejected? A: Check if the file type is supported and the file size is within limits (shown in the upload area). Some files may be blocked for security reasons.
Q: How long does processing take? A: Upload time depends on file size and your connection. After upload, documents are processed in the background and become searchable automatically.
Q: Can I upload to a specific folder? A: Yes, you can upload directly to folders using the folder menu or organize documents after upload.
